The castle stands right by the lake and is easy to spot from the trail. It’s currently closed and undergoing renovation, but still makes a nice landmark to pass on.

Snogeholm Castle has a long history, with its origins as a medieval castle dating back to the 14th century. However, the current structure you would see today is a manor house that was built in 1816, replacing the original fortress. This architectural evolution is a key part of its story. It's located on a scenic peninsula that juts into Lake Snogeholm and is an integral part of the surrounding nature reserve.

It's hard to see them clearly with a smartphone, but there are lots of cormorants sitting on the rocks here. Their nests are likely to have been below the road in the steep coast.

The place is very easily accessible from the two car parks that exist, before and after the forest. The road at night is not noisy. It is an area very frequented by people from the area who go for a walk
