The Estación de Torredelcampo is a historic railway station along the Vía Verde del Aceite, located at kilometer 11 of today's “Camino Natural.” It was the first station after the starting point in Jaén and played an important role in freight and passenger transport on the former Linares–Puente Genil railway line. Today, it serves as a rest and information point for cyclists and hikers on the Vía Verde.

The station was opened in 1893 by the Compañía de los Ferrocarriles Andaluces on the Linares–Puente Genil line. It had a simple station building, a goods shed, several sidings, water depots, and a cast-iron “aguada” for steam locomotives. After the line was closed in 1984, the facilities fell into disrepair until they were restored and integrated into the network as part of the conversion to the Vía Verde. Next to the station is the Jardín de Variedades del Olivo, a botanical garden with 31 varieties of olives from 5 Mediterranean countries (including Carrasqueño de Alcaudete, Arbequina, Kalamon). There are picnic facilities here, but no restaurant.

We're in a very shaded area with a fountain and wooden benches for resting after our journey along the Vía Verde del Aceite (Olive Oil Greenway). We're in Torredelcampo, the birthplace of olive oil and the hometown of one of the country's most popular singers; his name was "Juanito Valderrama." This area also has some gymnastics equipment if we're so inclined.

This small iron structure serves to facilitate the passage of Vía Verde users over the Autovía del Olivar highway as it passes through Torredelcampo. It was built relatively recently and was carried out by the Jaén Provincial Council, presumably with European funding. It solves a problem that required traveling a few meters further to reach another bridge in the aforementioned town.

The difficult layout of the Vía Verde del Aceite required the construction of tunnels and viaducts to overcome the terrain. As we left Jaén heading towards Córdoba, we came across this first metal viaduct, which stands out for its design and the material it was made of. It is 124 meters long and has a maximum height of 25 meters. It is based on the modernist construction technique typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The technique is similar to that used on the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it was built and designed by disciples of the prodigious builder named Dayd'e and Pillé around 1890. The pieces and structure were constructed in the French city of Creil. This technique involves joining the parts with rivets that prevent the metal from welding.

This is the first tunnel we encounter when leaving Jaén along the Vía Verde del Aceite (Olive Oil Green Route) and is located just a few meters from the old Torredelcampo station. It curves for 333 meters, so we can't see the exit when we enter. However, it's well lit for walking or cycling. However, it's recommended to carry a light on your bike. It is in perfect condition after having the surface repaired and the lighting area expanded.

This area contains a rest area with a fountain, shade, benches, and the old Torredelcampo train station. This station was completed around 1893, as part of the last section of the line connecting Jaén with the province of Córdoba. This building is very well preserved despite having been closed since 1984, awaiting investment by some government to remodel it and make it available for public use.

This metal walkway was built relatively recently. It was funded by the Provincial Council and eliminated an unnecessary detour to reconnect with the greenway. When it rains, you must be careful on the descent toward Torredelcampo, as the wood is slippery, so you should avoid using the brake until you have cleared the first bend in the walkway.

The Zuheros Viaduct crosses the embedded bed of the Bailón River. It has a length of 104 meters resolved into two lateral sections of 31.5 meters and a central section of 41.0 meters. Its structure is metallic and is very similar to that of the Guadajoz River Viaduct. It seems that both projects were drawn up by the same engineers, Alessandri and Delaperrière.

The old Torredelcampo station is perhaps one of the stations that preserves the greatest number of facilities, as it still has the guard's booth, a small storage area, and the old train ticket offices. Naturally, the authorities sometimes allow construction work that significantly damages the old buildings, and this happened a few years ago when a nightclub was built that practically took over a large part of the station's waiting room. Today, that work has been halted, and fortunately, the station is quite well preserved. We can also refill our water supply at the fountain located on the Vía Verda.

During that time, this method of metalworking was very common, creating rivets that avoided welding, like the imposing Eiffel Tower in neighboring Spain. Therefore, all the viaducts along the Oil Train route maintain this construction technique. Since there were no workshops specialized in this method of metalworking in Spain, the Daydé and Pillé workshops in France were commissioned to build each of these viaducts. In this case, it may be one of the shortest, but no less striking than the rest.

This tunnel is the longer of the two between Jaén and Martos and is lit, although it's advisable to carry a bike light to help you see and be seen by pedestrians, as this is a section of the greenway that is often heavily used by Torredelcampo residents. It is 334 meters long and curves inside, so when we enter through either entrance, we can't see the exit. Fortunately, the lighting inside prevents us from straying from the path or falling into the small drainage channel. It was completed at the end of the 19th century, specifically in 1893, and was the last section of the complete line between Linares and Baeza, Puente Genil.

In 1891, Alessandre and Delapierre designed this viaduct, almost 83 metres long and 20 metres high. Although its dimensions are smaller than those of other structures on the railway line, the metal grid rests on a huge stone pilaster and the bluestone masonry stands out. In 1985, with the definitive closure of the line and the cessation of the transport of goods and passengers, the bridge was abandoned until the inauguration of the Vía Verde del Aceite nature trail, which restored some of its former splendour and delighted cyclists and walkers who cross it every day.
