My hiking suggestion in the Monfragüe National Park: I start at the village of Villarreal de San Carlos and take the main path to the mountain Cerro Gimio. Here I enjoy the breathtaking view. We then continue along the lower path back to the village. Gnarled holm oaks line the path and I always enjoy the wonderful hilly and strangely gnarled landscape. Alternatively, you can walk along one of the narrow paths along the river. Unfortunately, they were closed when I visited. Cumbre de Talamanca is one of the mountains that is on the same ridge line as Torreón, for example. The views from the top are very beautiful!

Popularly known as "the roof of Extremadura", the top of the Torreón or Calvitero is located at 2400 meters above sea level and without a doubt the views from there are amazing! An ascent that is demanding but with several alternatives to choose from and all of them with spectacular views.

The top of Peñanegra is located at 1,393 meters above sea level and there is a viewpoint that offers wonderful panoramic views of the entire Navaconcejo region to the north and behind it the Piornal region, where you can appreciate the beautiful landscape of Extremadura. The ascent can be difficult because it is a long journey, go prepared with plenty of water and sun protection if you do it on hot or summer days.

Very close to the town of Villarreal de San Carlos is this wonderful natural viewpoint that is the top of Cerro Gimio. Located within the Monfragüe National Park, it is one of its icons and deserves to reach its top.

The top of the Mojón Blanco at 1400 meters above sea level offers beautiful views of the entire interior of Extremadura and the valley of La Vera. It can be reached by the marked route PR-CC 14 from Piornal.
