An easy hike along a marked trail to the summit of Mount Gariglione, at the trigonometric point. Departure is from the former Gariglione barracks.

They are by no means mere relics of a bygone era, the "Monumento dei' Caduti" found almost everywhere in villages and towns, commemorating the many victims of war and tyranny. Their design varies, but what they all have in common is that they constantly remind us of the need to preserve peace.

Immersed in nature and the silence of the woods

I recommend hiking from Piano de Gatto via the 'jeep route' to the waterfall and using the same route to return. Then it should also be easy to do with children. It is not recommended to take the Contrada Felicella route. On the one hand, the path is partly overgrown with thorny bushes, and the wooden bridge is in a dilapidated condition.

Cross this adventurous bridge carefully, one at a time, or avoid it by returning the same route from the waterfall.

At this crossroads it is possible to continue along the ring road on the Alaco (the name of the river that feeds Lake Lacina), or take the path to the south which can be a shortcut to return to Mammone.

The Campanaro waterfalls, fed by the Campanaro river, are located near Zagarise. To get to the two waterfalls you have to cross a small suspension bridge and various stairs.

Girifalco is a small town in the province of Catanzaro. It is also known as "the city of madmen" as it housed a mental asylum for years.
