The Holy Priory Church of the Military Orders, Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady Saint Mary of the Meadow in Ciudad Real, begun in the 15th century, is Gothic in style, although it incorporates earlier late Romanesque elements from the cathedral's predecessor: the parish church dating from the time of Alfonso X the Wise. The cathedral was built upon this earlier structure and completed in the mid-16th century after the construction of the vaulted roofs.
