In the north of the historic Campo de Calatrava, in the Guadiana basin, crossed by its tributaries Becea and Bañuelos, is the wonderful town of Malagón.

In its term there are two completely different landscapes: in the east the plain dominates, while the west is a mountainous area as it is the last foothills of Los Montes de Toledo. At the foot of the Sierra de Malagón, there are three lagoons of volcanic origin declared a Natural Reserve: Nava Grande, Nava de Enmedio and Nava Grandes or Chica.

The villages of Malagón are El Cristo del Espíritu Santo, La Fuencaliente, Las Peralosas, El Sotillo, Los Quiles, Valdehierro, Piedralá and the annex Las Povedillas.

The town of Malagón is located at the foot of the Sierra de Malagón surrounded by an incredible landscape of rivers and volcanoes. The town was founded during Roman times, the most notable monuments being the 15th-century Santa María Magdalena and the 16th-century convent of San José.
