Great cafe, cakes, coffee, pots of tea and bacon rolls. Run by Mark and his team all vert friendly and helpful. Very clean toilets and plenty of room for bikes. Dog friendly for walkers with dogs. Highly recommended

Ampthill is a historic market town located in Central Bedfordshire that dates back to 1219. There are a number of great cafés, pubs and restaurants to discover including The White Hart and Surtin Café.

Not very visible from the road, hidden behind a tall brick wall. You can peep through the old gateway or else from the driveway at the far left of the wall.

Great peaceful place to make a stop on your ride for coffee or drink.

An iconic building in the area that can be really striking in different parts of the year.

Nice pub with good food from sandwiches with chips to meals. Good garden and car park with space for bikes. Excellent toilets. Recommended. If you are cycling from the Grafham caravan site its just about half way round the resevoir. Aug 24 update. The pub is under new management but food still excellent and staff lovely. Recommend steak baguette and chips with pot of tea.

Predominantly gravel in mid section, with single track road at northern end and firm bridleway at southern end (still rideable in Dec). A nice view over Bedford with a flowing descent travelling south to north. Be careful crossing at the North end junction as 3 roads all join on the main roads corner. I like this section as it's a perfect traffic free link from Route 51/Danish Camp into the North Beds villages, to maintain my preferred low traffic rides during the winter months
