When Simón Urrutia Ermu, the last member of the family, died in 1889, the chapel disappeared. The chapel has a rectangular floor plan and masonry; however, the façade is made of stone. The front facade features a large, semi-arched door with a wrought iron grille. Through this door, the Urrutia family heard mass from the balcony of their palace in front of the chapel. Above the door is the family coat of arms, supported by two lions. Above the chapel is a bell tower with a stone statue of the Assumption of Mary; according to tradition, Mrs. Jeronima herself was the model for the Virgin Mary.
