Betws-y-Coed is a village and community in the Conwy valley in Conwy County Borough, Wales, located in the historic county of Caernarfonshire, right on the boundary with Denbighshire, in the Gwydir Forest. It is now a very popular visitor destination in the Snowdonia National Park. Popular with cyclists a fantastic area if you enjoy a good climb.

This cafe has won many awards. Unfortunately the have now closed this site from 8th January 2024. Gutted.

Llyn Dinas is a lake near Beddgelert, Gwynedd in north Wales. It is formed by the River Glaslyn. Llyn Dinas lies on the valley floor a few miles north of Beddgelert at an altitude of about 55 metres above sea level. It has an area of 60 acres and is fairly shallow, with the maximum depth only 10 metres.

Llyn Ogwen is a ribbon lake in north-west Wales. It lies alongside the A5 road between two mountain ranges of Snowdonia, the Carneddau and the Glyderau.

Bryn Afon, a property with a garden, is situated in Betws-y-coed, 25 km from Snowdon Mountain Railway, 30 km from Llandudno Pier, as well as 35 km from Bodelwyddan Castle. The property is located 36 km from Portmeirion, 18 km from Bodnant Garden and 36 km from Bangor Cathedral. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and Snowdon is 19 km away.

On a clear day, from this end of Llyn Padarn you’ll get an enticing view of Snowdon and other peaks. Its absolutely stunning and well worth the ride.

The climb is a reasonably long one Llanberis but the climbing doesn’t really start until you’re through the village of Nant Peris.

Pen-y-Pass is the climb out of Llanberis on the A4086 up to the Pen-y-Pass lodge where several walking routes to the summit of Snowdon start from. The lodge helpfully is a decent cafe stop too as it happens. The climb is a reasonably long one at 2.4 miles. There’s some lumps coming out of Llanberis but the climbing doesn’t really start until you’re through the village of Nant Peris. The climb from this point averages 6% to the top with a maximum grade of 10.2%. Early on, the grade sits at around 3-4%, a nice early warm-up for what’s about to come.

Iconic Pen y Pass is the access point to both the Miners’ and Pyg Track trailheads leading to Yr Wyddfa’s summit. At the pass are toilets, a café, and a drinking-water tap. If you are coming from Nant Peris the average grade of this col is 5.3% with a maximum of 9.6%. The Pen-y-Pass ascent starts at 113 meters and goes to 360 meter at the top, a total of 247 ascending meters.
