The memorial is right next to the summit cairn, and is suitably low key for such a location and what it commemorates.

As the Arenig Fawr is an isolated peak the views in all directions are very good - including to the nearby Rhinogs.

A lovely little lake (Llyn) in the shadow of Arenig Fawr, a great place for reflections when the weather is bright and calm.

Artificially enlarged, this beautiful lake provides perfect reflections of the mountain above. Wonderfully peaceful place you will often have entirely to yourself.

Great place for a stop--ice cream and coffee!

Good little cafe on Bala Lake it was an old fashioned van outside that has lots of different flavors of ice cream. It was blasting out old 60s music which was fun. Dogs only outside under the umbrellas on hot days. Try the cheese & ham toastie. Prices are a little high but it's well worth it.

Bala Lake is a large freshwater glacial lake in Gwynedd, Wales. The River Dee, which has its source on the slopes of Dduallt in the mountains of Snowdonia, feeds the 3.7 miles long by 0.5 miles wide lake. It has water sports centre and some wonderful little cafés The cycle path it wonderful smooth.

The receding glacier left a recessional moraine which dammed the valley and created the lake. Today it's a popular tourist and sport venue with lots of water sports and fishing on the lake and walking trails around it.

A linear, mainly level, surfaced, multi-user trail with excellent views of the Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) and the surrounding hills. Access to the lake in several places.
