Impressive ruins just outside Kingussie. They're free to visit and will impress even if you're unfamiliar with the story of the Jacobite Rising.

Even without any background or knowledge, the Ruthven Barracks are impressive and not to be missed on your bike ride around Kingussie. The well-preserved ruins are free to visit.

The Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Center and the adjacent Allt Mor Café were a wonderful stop after our overnight stay a little further on at the Ryvoan Bothy. After a mediocre breakfast that we brought with us to the bothy, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and good coffee.

We were able to try on our wetsuits for a swim in peace and quiet. Eating at the restaurant was disappointing: plenty of free seats, peak season, but they couldn't do anything for us at 7:00 PM other than provide us with some cold sandwiches to take away.
