The lake is a beautiful spot on the way up the hill to Beinn a'Creachan.

The summit of Beinn a' Chreachain is 1,081m and offers wonderful views across Rannoch Moor. It features some impressive crags and cliffs on the northwest side.

Beinn Achaladair summit reaches 1,038m and offers great views to the hills of the Blackmount to the west. The route linking across to Beinn a' Chreachain is down the steep eastern side of the mountain but there is a path to follow and it's not technical.

Meall Bhuide, Gaelic for Yellow Hill, is a 3,209-foot (978 m) summit that rises on the ridge between the Munros of Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a' Chreachain. Its proximity to the pair means that, despite its height, it is not classed as a separate Munro. However, it affords huge views across the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor and beyond towards the mountains of Glen Etive and Glen Coe.

There are a great many Coire an Lochains in the Scottish Highlands. This is because little lochans tend to form in glacially sculpted corries and, as exotic as Gaelic names often are, the translation often reveals the names to be pretty straightforward – 'the Corrie of the Lake’. This particular Coire an Lochain is adorned by an absolute jewel. Here, Lochan a' Chreachain sparkles beneath the towering wall of Beinn a' Chreachain's north face. Impregnable for hikers, the main route to the Munro's summit ascends easier ground to the east.

The views down the hill to loch Tulla and beyond into Black Mount are vast and undulating. A good place to turn around and admire the hills on the way up.
