The figure of TILL EULENSPIEGEL, honored with this monument, is one of those personalities whose traditional name and stories - dating back to medieval times - are still known in the collective memory today, but about whom it cannot be said with historical certainty whether he ever actually lived. It is possible that this figure is a mixture of stories handed down under the name "Till Eulenspiegel" from - originally very different - people, who then grew together over time to form the one legendary figure that we know to this day. And whether he existed or not - the main thing is: the myth lives on!
