Located in the center of the town, it is adjacent to a Roman archaeological site of great interest and offers a peaceful setting, ideal for a cultural break along flat itineraries between Gorizia and the Vipava Valley.

The present parish church of St. Peter in Šempeter pri Gorici was built after the First World War in the Neo-Romanesque style according to the plans of the renowned architect and urbanist Maks Fabiani (1865-1962). The church was consecrated in 1929. A church probably stood on this site as early as 1200, which was gradually rebuilt several times before being almost completely destroyed during the First World War.

The Piazza della Vittoria is strategically located as Gorizia's main square. Inviting restaurants have settled around the square. Excellently preserved and renovated buildings make the square a first-class gem.

An imposing brick church. The church has a small forecourt, with speed bumps for traffic to drive slowly across the forecourt. Restaurants are located opposite the church.

Travnik (meaning "meadow" in Slovenian) is Gorizia's main square, dominated from above by Gorizia Castle. The Casa Torriana, now the seat of the Prefecture, also overlooks the square. Among the many illustrious guests who lived there was Giacomo Casanova, who stayed there in 1773 and who also recounts his stay in Gorizia in his "Memoirs."
