Excellent destination when going down the path that goes down from the Avigliana campsite

The view of the Avigliana lakes is worth the hike, but it's not the best place for a quiet getaway, as it's always quite crowded with picnickers. The trail to get there is very easy.

The center of Avigliana, both on the hill and near the cemetery and the Porta di Santa Maria, is definitely worth a visit.

Bring trekking poles; they are very helpful both on the way down and up, as the trail is full of loose rocks.

A beautiful, picturesque hamlet. The little church (Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows) is interesting, as is a pylon at the entrance/exit to the village, dedicated to Saint Ambrose, with a decorative bicycle underneath (I hope it's not a ghost bike). It's the starting point for climbing to Mortera and walking the Sentiero dei Principi (Princes' Trail). Convenient parking is available a short distance from the town center, in front of the "Antica Cappella" restaurant (named after the nearby church mentioned above). Several water points are available, starting with the parking lot itself.
