4월 11, 2025, Avoncliff Aqueduct
the point at which the Kennet and Avon canal crossed the river and railway line via the Aqueduct built by John Rennie & John Thomas between 1797 and 1801. Good pub here which will reopen summer 2025. This is on the main railway line now becoming a regular (request?) stop since 2011

If you are heading here by car please note that the car park is not at location marked on the app map I have included screenshots from a map in the photos to show you the exact location of the car park which is a short ride from the park itself. Coming of the A362 roundabout follow sign for centre parcs you will pass centre parcs to your left then a timber yard and to your right a road with open grass areas either side which is the entrance to Longleat house the Bike park carpark is then 2nd turning on the right and is quite a narrow entrance and hidden in the trees so be warned blink and your miss it, the entrance is at about 45 degree angle to the road so if your coming from the other direction it's very easy to miss and the only signs I could spot are to the left of the road opposite the entrance and on the white gate which is closed at night but should be open when you're arrive at the park, On busy days you can spot the cars in the car park from the road.

The Avoncliff Aqueduct is a historic aqueduct that carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the River Avon. It's considered one of the most impressive feats of engineering on the canal. The aqueduct was designed by the famous canal engineer John Rennie, and was completed in 1801. It's made of local limestone and is adjacent to the Avoncliff railway station, which adds to its charm and accessibility.

Very quiet cycling in a miniature valley. The narrow 'tow' paths do not allow side-by-side or fast driving. Walkers with or without a dog, runners, small boat residents who get on and off their craft, you will certainly meet them. Moderate speed is a must. After a downpour you will undoubtedly find numerous puddles and rather muddy passages. Watch out is all the more important. If you pass under a bridge, keep in mind that you cannot pass with two, giving a ringing signal can prevent a lot of misery. Let yourself be enchanted by nature, look around you and enjoy. You can relax in abundance here.

6월 27, 2022, Bradford on Avon Town Centre and Historic Bridge
The town bridge was originally constructed in the 14th century, then widened in the 18th century. If you view the bridge from the downstream side the arches are rounded but view from the upstream side and you'll notice that the arches are pointed. The small building on the bridge is thought to have originally been a chapel but was converted into the town lock up in the 17th century.

Like the nearby Dundas Aqueduct, Avoncliff was built by John Rennie to carry the Kennet and Avon Canal over the river Avon and opened in 1805. Nice place to stop when cycling along the canal.

Running through leafy woodland and tranquil nature, the Kennet and Avon Canal links London with the Bristol Channel. Spanning 87 miles (140 km), the canal was once a vital trade artery in the 18th century to traffic goods across the country. Today, you can cycle its length, enjoying the many locks, abundant wildlife and stunning scenery. Bear in mind that the path can become muddy after rain and some sections may be busy during rush hour and the weekend.
