Stour Weir at Throop is a significant feature on the River Stour in Dorset, England, known for its historical importance, beautiful surroundings, and excellent coarse fishing.Throop Mill, a historic watermill with a long history dating back to the Domesday Book (1086), stands near the weir. While the mill is now disused and its interior unsafe, it remains a picturesque landmark. The area is tranquil and scenic, popular for walks and wildlife spotting, including waterfowl, kingfishers, and otters.

allways nice to cycle on this part of the trail, in winter can get quit muddy in places;

Pedestrian underpass for safely crossing the busy A31 road at Canford Bottom roundabout.

Hard compact track but can get muddy. Benches along the track, ideal for a stop with views of the river.

Single track fun

Throop Mill is a sizeable building and four storeys high. It is a traditional water mill being fed by a mill stream tapped off the main River Stour. There is a single chamber through which the water flowed. The original turbine is now sat rusting away in the middle of the lawn immediately in front of the mill. Now being converted in to self contained apartments

Very quiet and secluded area to do a spot of wild swimming.
