Using the power of moving water to drive a mill wheel is an ancient invention of the human spirit of discovery, the origins of which can be traced back to times long past. Thanks to such a construction, a watercourse - natural or artificial - could simply replace human or animal muscle power with the power of the natural elements, for example to grind grain into corn or to press oil from fruit. This former mill occupies a particularly lovely spot on the River Stour. Now converted into apartments, you'll find a weir, a bridge and a large millpond here. The Jubilee Trail, a long-distance footpath, passes right by and takes you over the footpath to cross the river.

This extraordinary lime tree sits in the middle of Winterborne Strickland. While young lime trees have smooth bark, they can become extremely gnarled over the years. In the summer, the trunk of this majestic tree is hidden by the raucous shoots it produces from its base.

Along this ridge section, which takes you from Okeford Hill and over Bell Hill, you are afforded stunning views over Blackmore Vale and Stour Valley. There is evidence of a prehistoric settlement on the summit and a tumulus can be observed here.
