Unlike many churches in the 19th century, which only underwent partial restorations or reconstructions, the church of Okeford Fitzpaine was almost entirely rebuilt in 1866. Many materials from the original 14th-century church were used in this reconstruction.

Fiddleford Mill House survives well as a good example of its class and listed as Grade I. Pevsner described it as ‘the most spectacular medieval manor house interior in Dorset’ free to visit

It's hard to a imagine a more serene location than Fiddleford, with its 14th-century manor and pretty mill. While the present mill dates back to the 13th century, impressive in itself, there has been a mill here since at lease the date of the Domesday Book in 1087. The weir bridge is just as wonderful with its rusty wheels and vibrant, rural setting. Summer is the most majestic time to visit but all seasons bring their magic here.

Just splendid examples of Dorset 'Hollows' country roads. Very quite and a joy to cycle on.

Traditional North Dorset riding territory with tiny lanes, narrow hollows and lots of fords. Watch out for the fords as they're slippery under your tyres! (The name alone deserves to be a stand-out place, right?)
