Divert off main trail to Morton Estate for coffee break

Be careful as it is unpaved. Passable on a road bike, and offers a good alternative to busy roads.

Good landmark as you go along the road. I do not think you can visit it, It is a landmark (folly - serves no useful purpose other than as a landmark) to James Frampton but I don't think you can be deported to Australia for looking at it :-)

Good food and very welcoming. Plenty of cycling climbing around here, especially when the ranges are open.

Nice to look at although you cannot go into the grounds. I think you can rent it through the Landmark Trust. Woodsford Castle is a rare survivor of one side of a medieval fortified manor house. Standing near the River Frome the thatched roof is reputed to be the largest in Dorset. There is a convenient to pull in to have look.

Lulworth is a tiny village that hides a large castle behind the tall trees of the surrounding park. Lulworth Castle was built in 1610 as a hunting lodge. After the French Revolution, this was one of the places where members of the French royal family who had escaped the guillotine found a safe haven. In 1929 it was destroyed by a fire. Nearly 70 years later, it had been restored and opened to the public.
