Clevedon Pier and seafront are iconic attractions in the coastal town of Clevedon. It was built in 1869 and is a beautifully restored Victorian structure that extends into the Bristol Channel. The pier sometimes opens on the Friday for fish and chips, and on Saturday's for breakfast. You can check their Instagram page for updates.

This is a popular spot for dog walkers, with stunning views overlooking the Bristol Channel towards Wales. The headland is an open grassy space with craggy rocks leading down to the water and Portishead Point Lighthouse at the tip. The sloped grass has plenty of benches around for you and your pup to chill and take in the view, it’s particularly beautiful at sunset. A short walk away is East Wood, a small, coastal woodland habitat which supports a huge range of wildlife.

The small cove at Layde Bay is one of the prettiest beaches along the Somerset coast. A small stretch of sand between the rocks and backing onto the densely vegetated cliffs. This is a pleasant beach to soak up the sun but swimming is not generally advised as with many of the beaches along the Bristol Channel coast. There can be strong currents as the tide moves and the sand towards the low water mark is decidedly muddy. That said Ladye Bay is home to the annual “Long Swim” which covers about a mile down to Clevedon Pier. Layde Bay is also a popular climbing spot with a variety of climbs. The light was first lit on 19 April 1894.[6] Up until World War II the lighthouse was lit by gas, supplied from the gas main and stored in adjacent tanks.[3] To begin with it displayed an occulting light (eclipsed twice in quick succession every twenty seconds) with a visible range of 11 nautical miles (20 km; 13 mi).[7] The rotating optic was installed in 1908 when the light characteristic was changed to group flashing (twice every ten seconds).[8] Its drive mechanism was wound daily by the Ashford Family, on whose land it was built, until 1941 when the light was converted to automatic electric operation.[3] In 2000 the winding and drive mechanisms were replaced by electric motors.[9] From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Nore_Lighthouse

Simplistic and in a way typical British lighthouse - a great target for sunset/sunrise photos.

Clevedon has a pretty waterfront, with an atmospheric pier and lots of little eateries

Lovely walk with great views, but some parts can be closed for refurbishment so diversions are sometimes in place.

Great fish and chips at the glass-walled café, friendly staff and top-up for bike battery!

The pier was built during the 1860s to attract tourists and provide a ferry port for rail passengers to South Wales. The pier is 312 m long and consists of eight spans supported by steel rails covered by wooden decking, with a pavilion on the pier head. It was described by Sir John Betjeman, as "the most beautiful pier in England" and was designated a Grade I listed building in 2001.

Jim Dyer was the creator of the Gordano Round, a 43 mile walk that stretches from Portishead down to Clevedon, then through the woods to Clapton in Gordano, over to Abbots Leigh then back to Portishead. It is a well loved route with a huge variety of scenery, stretching from a coastal path, through woodlands, over fields and across vistas, whilst also being well maintained and marked. The tribute sites on the coastal part of the route, with a view out over the Severn.

Described by Sir John Betjeman, as "the most beautiful pier in England". Riding up towards Portishead is worth it for the gorgeous views across the Estuary, too!

I always love the contrast between the green of the pier and the Estuary and the views over to South East Wales
