A very beautiful coastal hike. Sturdy footwear is required, as is rain gear, as the weather is constantly changing.

Accessible on foot at low tide

When can I use the causeway? At high tide, the sea covers the causeway and during the winter the island will be closed. However, at low tide, the causeway is revealed and visitors can stroll across and back. The causeway is open for around four hours each day, depending on the tides and weather. A very lovely view can be had from here of St Michael's Mount. Accessible during mid to low tide, it is a beautiful place to visit via its granite causeway. Go and see this iconic rocky island crowned by a medieval church and castle. One of the 43 unbridged islands in the UK that is accessible by foot.

Beautiful sandy beach. If you take the SWC Path, you can walk along the water to the end of the beach and then rejoin the path there.

If asked where a famous island was dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, most people would probably answer the internationally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont Saint-Michel in France, located off the coast of the English Channel on the border between Normandy and Brittany. But even here in southwest England – beyond the European mainland, off the British Isles – a "St. Michael's Mount" can be found.
