Follow a pleasant stream then gradually climb up the slopes past some of the oldest conifer trees in the woods. Look out for the viewpoint halfway round where you can look out along the valley of Cardinham Water towards its source on Bodmin Moor. It's a perfect spot to watch the foliage change during the seasons

Fantastic beginner trails! They are all short so perfect for kiddies and nothing that isn't rollable. I feel on a busy day it could become a bit crowded but when I visited I was the only person there so could push as fast as i liked!

Nice selection of food available to choose from if you're hungry and normally some scrumptious cakes if that's more to your fancy! Indoor and outdoor seating available and I've always found them to be very cyclist friendly. The other day when I visited (April '24) I was covered from head to toe in mud after spending a very wet afternoon on the MTB trails and the lovely ladies didn't even bat an eye as I was dripping whilst waiting for my coffee.

The National Trust cafe at the entrance to the Lanhydrock estate is a great place for a pre or post walk drink and snack. There is plenty of room, nice cake and anything you buy helps look after the area.

Dialled-In Dave is natural, flowing and fast; an ideal introduction to Red grade single track and a great place to develop your trail riding skills.

Respryn Bridge is a 15th-century granite and stone bridge over the River Fowey. The bridge is Grade II* listed.

Don’t park at Lanhydrock and ride on the roads. Save the rubber park in Cardinham woods car park 🤣

Set this up on the singletrack prior, just get the entry right avoid the granite pillars at the start you should be able to come in with air, then pump through all track to gain speed, slow down at the end of last undulations stops you ripping up the first real corner. Grin and enjoy. This section drains well and normally retains dry. Oh don't forget to look for deer if track is quiet.

Lanhydrock House is a Victorian mansion house with extensive gardens and woodland as part of the estate. Although some parts of it date from the early 17th century, the grade I listed building is largely more recent due to a fire which destroyed the original property in 1881. It is generally known as just 'Lanhydrock'. The house is now managed by the National Trust. Visitors can explore 54 of its rooms, plus the gardens and even cycling trails in the grounds. Dating back to the 15th century, Respryn Bridge is built from granite and is famous for being a strategic crossing point of the River Fowey during the English Civil War, when neighbouring Lanhydrock and Boconnoc were opposing sides. Today it forms a much more peaceful river crossing on the edge of the Lanhydrock Estate, and is protected from heavier traffic by the addition of stone bollards at either end.

After all the switchback climbs, this is the best descent at Cardinham Woods! The Cribbar trail weaves its way down the hillside using wide, supportive berms at each turn, and there's also some rollers inbetween to pump through for speed, or even get some air on! All in all, an exhilarating descent that makes all the pedalling worthwhile.
