If you choose an all weather pitch, you’ll definitely need those very sturdy rock pegs. The pitch is what they called pea gravel, so if you have a very thin camping mat you may have an uncomfortable night!

Fantastic campsite at Cwm Carn! There are camping pitches, all weather pitches and pods to choose from.

This area is also great for some technical trail running. Plenty of footpaths meander around the hills.

Cool alternative to the Twrch trail - there will be drops to content with.

Nice place for cycling

Great ride, can get tight with height and width on some bridges but in all a mostly paved cycle through Cwmbran with light gravel down to Newport and up past Pontypool, I’d recommend carrying a spare inner tube or have slime tubes installed and spare as sometimes the odd bramble is on the track after trimming!

Great place for a snack and a coffee

Very helpful staff who kindly refilled our water bottles - also pointed out that on entering the main carpark there is a public tap next to the unit/toilets on the left.

highly recommend the iced coffee with vanilla and cream on the top...amazing

The ruins of Abergavenny Castle (Castell y Fenni) stand testament to a turbulent history. It was said that the castle "has been oftner stain'd with the infamy of treachery, than any other castle in Wales." It's now free and somewhat safer to enter.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, very much recommended.

Pontymoile Basin, was originally a toll point where the canal narrows as it approaches the large area expanse of water used for turning narrowboats and filling up with water.
