The source of the river is located over 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level in the Staffordshire moorlands, near the gritstone escarpment of the Roaches. After flowing downhill for a few miles it reaches Tittesworth Reservoir, a major supplier of fresh water to the Potteries and Leek. After it leaves the dam at Tittesworth, it flows into the ancient market town of Leek, where it was used to aid the manufacture of dyes that were used in the town's textile and silk industries.

Tittesworth is the second largest reservoir by volume in the county of Staffordshire. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs past the reservoir.

Enjoy a quick rest and take a few photos on the giant wooden chair and sofa.

Excellent savoury and sweet options at decent prices! A tap for drinking water and bike storage outside, and plenty of place for seating inside and out.

It can be incredibly muddy after heavy downpour. Whereas during spring/summer season it is quite overgrown in places. Oh and watch out for those cattle grazing on a nearby fields

Great view of The Roaches

Red Loop is a great loop to walk!!! One incline that's a little bit steep, other than that it's easy to navigate. Would suggest some walking shoes or similar.

Tittesworth Reservoir is a great place to visit. Various walking loops are signposted, the longest one taking you all the way around the reservoir. It is usually relatively quiet and dog friendly.

Natural walkway to Tittesworth reservoir. Can be ridden on chunky tires gravel bike/MTB too. Not sure if you can cycle around the reservoir though :(

This is a must visit location! They have lots of events throughout the year usually. Step back in time and have a browse around. Be sure to look inside too. It is stuck in a time warp.

Just did the short walk today and took it easy. Well made paths and will come back to do the yellow trail

A nice way to link Endon and Denford that is away from the road. The towpath is smooth and quite wide which would be suitable for a family bike ride. The Hollybush Inn in Denford is right next to the canal with plenty of places to sit outside and watch the world go by.
