However, as hikers notice upon approach, this is by no means a small sacred monument in the sense of the wayside crosses common in some regions. This bridleway just outside Stow-on-the-Wold provides a perfect spot for a scenic forested ride, offering a peaceful escape from the town's usual hustle.

Famous for its honey-coloured traditional Cotswold stone buildings, Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'. The River Windrush runs through the middle of the town with five stone bridges crossing it. The bridges were built between 1654 and 1911.

Lower Slaughter is a beautifully quaint village with the Little Eye stream running through the middle of it. The village mill with original water wheel sits proudly on one side of the stream.

Upper Slaughter is a charming Cotswold village with the River Eye meandering through it. The shallow ford crossing the river makes a perfect spot to clean your bike off whilst cycling through it!

Delightful footpath along the River Windrush as you make your way into the Cotswolds village of Bourton-on-the-Water. The village is famous for its waterside scenery, often being referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'.

Very nice small village, peaceful and really suggestive

The Porch House is the oldest inn in England (over 100 years). There are two parts to this pub; a formal restaurant and a cosy pub with low ceilings and a roaring fire in the winter. We have previously enjoyed lunch here. The portions are fantastic, they offer GF options and the food was delicious.

One of the nicest place in Britain

This mill dates back to 1086 when the Domesday Book was written. It sits on the River Eye just before it reaches Bourton-on-the-Water. The mill has a museum, shop and riverside cafe.

Stow on the Wold is the highest Cotswold town. It was of historical importance located on the Roman Fosse Way at a point where several roads meet. The battle of Donnington fought nearby was the last battle in the English Civil war in 1646. The local church was used to lock up Royalist soldiers as it was the only lockable building locally.
