Easy road, nice environment

North lake is full of wildlife

Willen Lake North is part of the larger Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. The north side is well-known for its wildlife, particularly bird species, and offers quieter walking paths for nature lovers. The lake also includes scenic views of the famous Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist monument built in 1980 by the Nipponzan Myohoji order, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in the area.

This is a stunning vantage point to look out at the tranquility and beauty of Willen Lake. A super place to come to blow off some cobwebs.

Ampthill is a historic market town located in Central Bedfordshire that dates back to 1219. There are a number of great cafés, pubs and restaurants to discover including The White Hart and Surtin Café.

Cafe opened in 2023 and nice stop for a coffee with inside and pavement seating. Some nice cycle stands to lock your bike to and you can keep an eye on the bike from some of the inside tables

St Mary the Virgin is a peaceful church just outside of Haynes village. Most of the church you see today was rebuilt in the 1850s, aside from the west tower which dates from the late 14th century. A wonderful place to escape the heat of summer or wander the gravestones. From the churchyard, you get a wonderful view over to Haynes park.

This area has very heavy traffic as several trunk roads meet. The cycle paths and crossings offer a safer transit

Really lovely cafe in the Ampthill market square. Gets busy at the weekends.

Great place to stop for a drink, food, cake, fruit and veg and much more.

Beautiful location to the start of the nature reserve, if you are lucky you will see Kingfishers and Otters in this area.

Got here first thing before sunrise and the birdsong and peacefulness is amazing. I was treated to various bird murmurations as well which were stunning. It's a hard packed gravel area although the 1st part can get a bit muddy.

Chicksands is a fantastic area for off-road biking. There are numerous entrances (including the northern entrance where you can access the bike park). This entrance provides access from two good paths, one from the roundabout at the intersection of the A600 and Bedfordshire Rd, the other is from the roundabout where the A507/A600 and Ampthill Rd near the council officers.
