Great photo opportunity, but the area can be busy depending on the weather and it’s likely any progress on a bike would be very slow. Early mornings and evenings are good.

Nice easy flat ride. Can be busy with walkers and other cyclists, particularly on weekends. Early mornings are the best, with so much birdsong and wildlife. Take a moment to enjoy the view of the Weir, which usually has a row of gulls fishing on it.

The weir spans the River Taff, which flows directly through the heart of South Wales. It's a nice place to stop and refuel with picnic benches and a peaceful atmosphere.

The Walnut Tree Viaduct spanned the valley between the ridges of the Garth and Castell Coch. The one remaining brick pillar is all that remains of this massive structure.
