Cardiff Castle is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion located in the city centre of Cardiff, Wales. The original motte and bailey castle was built in the late 11th century by Norman invaders on top of a 3rd-century Roman fort.

Nice place to stop for a coffee & cake break next to the white water rafting Centre.

A traffic free gem in the heart of Cardiff Bay! If you're lucky you can get a close view of huge ships (including naval) entering Cardiff Harbour. In September Cardiff Skate Club has its annual Plaza Comp at the skatepark at the end of the barrage which is always worth a watch. Especially busy during the summer weekends. During peak times the cycle path / road will have pedestrians all along it with pets off leads so take care. Sometimes can be closed. Check https://www.cardiffharbour.com/category/news-and-updates/ before you make the trip. This usually happens on a weekday rather than weekends.

Hawse Lane bridge, crossing the South Wales main-line offers somewhat of a high point over the Wentlooge Level. Be aware it's a fairly narrow crossing point.

The old red sandstone bridge was built between 1746 and 1747. It has five arches and was widened in 1836-7, although it might not feel like it when the traffic is busy!

The Wales Millennium Centre has become an iconic landmark in Cardiff Bay. Home to a theatre, halls, shops, restaurants and bars, the building was completed in 2009.

Claiming to be the quirkiest Coffee Shop in Cardiff (and possibly succeeding). Unlike most coffee shops, this one is made from shipping containers, with deck chairs in the front yard and a roaring fire to keep it nice and cosy inside. It's on a great location in Cardiff Bay store in-between the Norwegian Church and the Doctor Who Exhibition.

Cardiff Castle's history stretches back over 2,000 years to the 3rd century AD, when a Roman fort stood in its place. In the 11th century, Norman invaders built a keep that still stands on the Castle Green today. William the Conqueror or Robert Fitzhamon probably commissioned the castle. The castle is open from 10am - 4pm Monday to Thursday and from 9am - 6pm Friday to Sunday. The entrance for adults costs £12.50.

The centre offers orchestral performances, dance shows, operas, ballet, music, theatre, and more. The Wales Millennium Centre opened in 2004 and was completed in 2009. This was in May after lots of rain, it obviously stood out while I enjoyed my Scotch Egg snack. The ideal food for long bike rides.
