Skenfrith Castle은 Skenfrith라는 예스러운 마을에 있는 National Trust 소유의 아름다운 성터입니다. 리버 모나우 옆의 아름다운 계곡에 자리 잡고 있으며, 바로 옆에는 매력적인 St Bridget's Church가 있습니다. 이 성은 원래 1066년 잉글랜드 침공 후 웨일스에서 헤리퍼드로 가는 길을 보호하기 위해 노르만족에 의해 세워졌습니다. 1135년에는 웨일스에서 주요 반란이 일어났고, 이에 대응하여 스티븐 왕은 스켄프리스 성과 그 자매 요새인 그로스몬트 성, 화이트 캐슬을 통합하여 "Three Castles"라는 영지를 형성했으며, 이 영지는 수세기 동안 웨일스 공격으로부터 이 지역을 방어하는 역할을 계속했습니다. 현재는 폐허가 되었지만, 벽은 여전히 튼튼하며, 이 장소의 중심은 위풍당당한 사령탑입니다. 이곳은 휴베르 드 부르가 1219~1244년경에 지은 3층, 12미터 높이의 원형 사령탑입니다. 주차 공간이 잘 마련되어 있고 피크닉과 주차를 위한 녹지 공간도 충분합니다. 입장료도 무료입니다. 인근의 그로스몬트 성, 화이트 캐슬과 함께 방문하기 좋은 곳입니다.

Garway hill is one of the real highlights of the Herefordshire Trail, a proper hill with very fine views in all directions, and ponies!

According to Harper Bridges - This bridge was commissioned by the congregations of the churches of Sellack Boat and King’s Caple and built in 1895. The towers are of tubular cast iron, with nameplate transoms embossed “Louis Harper AIMCE, Maker, Aberdeen”. The original cables to common anchorages are still in place, as are their hangers. However, at some stage (nobody seems to know when or why) further short cables were clamped to the original, presumably to support areas of wear and avoid cable replacement. This has led to crowding at the saddles. However, the bridge is still used and the local churches continue to hold their ‘Bridge Thanksgiving’ ceremony each year. This area is noted for its flooding but so far the bridge has held since the arched deck remains above the flow, although the approaches are inundated. It lacks the original longitudinal deck boarding but the original camber is well maintained. This 13th century Norman Castle is set in a beautiful riverside location. It's managed by the National Trust and has free parking and free entry. It's also a good starting point for exploring the area.

The Cathedral Green is open to bikes and Church Street, leading off it to the north, has several good cafes you can stop at.
