Top tip only park your bike on the left, (looking from the road) there is a sign to remind you when you arrive. Great service, nice little upstairs room when the weather isn’t so good, or sit outside side on warm sunny days, good value for money with the coffee and cake.

The cafe can get busy, be patient and relax 😁

Lovely at dawn. It's a rolling road so easy on the legs too.

The tree that was felled had been the village Christmas tree with lights etc for years, and this seemed a good way to commemorate both it and the mining in the area. Lots of quiet lanes round about and the old Fosse Way can be found nearby.

Get there before 11, fab outside space, bikes safe out the back (needs bike racks tho as used by cyclists)

Good road, one of my fave bits. It’s flat and the surface is pretty good so you can get some speed going as you race past the giant windmills in the fields.

Make sure you take an off road or gravel not a road bike like I did thinking it was a road 😡 Not all the bridleway is as nice as the stretch in the photo.

There’s a few nice little homes and a decent view from atop the hill. Round the bend and down you go!

A challenging but enjoyable ride. 14% incline up or down hill depending on direction so really steep. Watch out for Dog walkers, runners, fishermen going to or from the canal. Also be really careful of loose gravel on the tarmac road and in some places uneaven surface. In winter watch for ice and leaves. It's really quaint and scenic. Ride on to Theddingworth, scenic and challenging. Good luck if you try it. David

Find a nice cadence and bare in mind the slight incline after the S bend

Stanford Reservoir lies on the border of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. It requires a permit to visit, but you can enjoy views from the road.

After the tree was felled at Stoney Stanton, the parish council decided to do something with the remaining trunk. After consulting with residents in the area, it was decided that a sculpture of a quarryman would be made out of the trunk.

A couple of small climbs to local high-points at 112 metres and 116 metres, with a "col" of 96 metres. Power through on the smooth tarmac.

Loose gravel in the road so take it steady. All to easy to get airborne over the bridge too!

Lovely downhill cruise when heading SW

Good coffee and cakes, great spot to stop

Flat to the river then steep to the junction, watch out for the gravel in the middle of the road

Stop to look at all the silly people in their metal boxes!
