11월 29, 2025, Salines El Saladar
The Calpe salt flats occupy a depression filled with Quaternary alluvial deposits. The position of the Peñón de Ifach is a decisive factor in the formation of this interesting wetland. It is a lagoon of tombolic origin, created from the development of a double sandbar.

10월 22, 2025, View of Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Consuelo
The view of the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Consuelo in Altea is one of the most beautiful panoramas on the Costa Blanca. The church, also called "La Cúpula del Mediterráneo" (Cathedral of the Mediterranean) because of its striking blue and white domes, sits atop the highest point of the old town and is visible from afar – from the sea, the coastal road, or the cycle path along the promenade. Those traveling by bike should plan a worthwhile detour. The narrow, cobbled streets lead up to the Plaza de la Iglesia, from where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Mediterranean, the rooftops of the whitewashed old town, and the surrounding mountains. Especially at sunset, the domes glow an intense blue, forming a striking contrast with the golden light of the coast. The view of the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Consuelo perfectly embodies the charm of Altea – the combination of Mediterranean tranquility, traditional architecture, and natural beauty.

8월 11, 2025, Senija
The village truly comes alive during its annual festivities, including the celebrations in honor of the Virgen de los Desamparados and Santa Catalina Mártir in May, neighborhood festivities in August, and the Feast of the Assumption. On these days, music, processions, and traditional dishes fill the streets, with local specialties such as mullat, coques, and puxero amb pilotes. Senija is therefore a place where history, nature, gastronomy, and art blend harmoniously, and where time itself seems to slow down.

8월 11, 2025, Senija
Senija is a small and picturesque village in the Marina Alta region of Alicante, nestled against a hillside and surrounded by a landscape of almond, olive, and carob trees. Covering less than five square kilometers and home to just a few hundred residents – a significant portion of whom are of foreign origin – the village has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Narrow streets lined with whitewashed and pastel-colored houses give Senija its typical Mediterranean charm. The history of Senija dates back to the time when it was almost entirely inhabited by Moors. After their expulsion in the early 17th century, the number of families dropped sharply, but the 18th century brought a revival, mainly through the production of raisins for export. Agriculture still plays a key role in the local economy today, with vineyards, olive oil, dessert wines, and dried tomatoes among its specialties. Senija is also known for its artistic character, most notably through the MOS Open-Air Museum, where murals by various artists can be admired throughout the village. In the heart of Senija stands the church of Santa Catalina, built on the remains of an old mosque and housing a baroque statue of the Virgen de los Desamparados. The surrounding countryside offers walking trails leading to sites such as La Creueta and the Cueva de la Garganta, where views and tranquility draw many visitors.

7월 23, 2025, Coll de Rates
If there’s one climb that defines cycling on the Costa Blanca, it’s Coll de Rates. Starting from the village of Parcent, this legendary ascent has become a must-ride for cyclists from around the world — from weekend warriors to Tour de France champions. The climb is just under 7 km long, with an average gradient of around 5%, making it both accessible and rhythmical. The road surface is excellent, the curves are elegant, and the views just keep getting better as you rise above the valley. This is no secret among the pros. Riders from Jumbo-Visma, INEOS, UAE Team Emirates and others regularly use Coll de Rates for winter training. Tadej Pogačar currently holds the Strava KOM, which says a lot about the kind of names that have tested themselves here. On clear days, the view from the top is simply breathtaking — stretching all the way across the coastline, and if you’re lucky, even Ibiza shimmers faintly on the horizon. There’s a café at the summit (seasonal), and the descent toward Tarbena or Castell de Castells is just as rewarding. With its mix of scenery, steady gradients and cycling history, Coll de Rates is one of the most climbed — and most loved — ascents in the world. If you ride only one climb in the region, make it this one.

👉 Tip: Alcalalí has a rich history dating back to around 1020, when it was part of the Moorish Kingdom of Dénia. Take a stroll through the narrow streets and discover traces of its medieval past, including the 14th-century tower and the church in the village centre. If you visit in February, the valley around Alcalalí is covered in pink and white almond blossoms — one of the most beautiful sights in the Costa Blanca. Afterwards, stop at one of the local cafés on the village square for a coffee or a snack before continuing your ride.

6월 30, 2025, Descent from Coll de Rates to Tàrbena
During the descent from Coll de Rates toward Tàrbena, be sure to slow down and take in the panoramic valley views below. On your right, you’ll spot narrow, terraced orange groves cascading down the hillside toward the sea. As the road twists and winds through pine-covered slopes, watch for brief clearings that offer sweeping vistas of the lush Guadalest Valley and the distant Mediterranean coast. A few perfect spots to pause safely are just after sharp bends—ideal for a quick photo or just soaking in the peaceful scenery before continuing the descent.

5월 26, 2025, Blanca Bikes Café
A must-visit café with one of the best terraces in the region – overlooking the legendary Coll de Rates. Blanca Bikes serves great coffee and snacks, but it’s the atmosphere that makes it special. Think après-ski vibes, but with sun, lycra and carbon bikes instead of snow and skis. Perfect for watching riders roll in and out all day long. 📍 Located right on the route to/from Coll de Rates – you can’t miss it.

The salt flats of Calpe were used for salt production as early as Roman times and were in operation until the 20th century. Today, they are a protected nature reserve and provide a protected habitat for numerous animal species. They are particularly known for their flamingos and other waterfowl, making them an ideal spot for birdwatchers. Paths surrounding the salt flats offer impressive views of the Peñón de Ifach.
