Good fountain, good shade, good place to make a "technical" stop

The Roman road known as Calzada de los Blendios connected Pisoraca (Herrera de Pisuerga, in Palencia) and Portus Blendium (Suances, in Cantabria). It was the main means of communication between the Castilian plateau and the Cantabrian coast. It runs through a mountain area and is covered by oak, chestnut and beech groves.

A famous pasture in the region, close to a thousand meters of altitude. In the center of the braña stands the hermitage of Moral, and attached to it a small refuge. Legend has it that the Virgin appeared in this place, which led to the construction of the small sanctuary, next to the route that linked the Coast with Campoo.

Mythical hermitage with a sufficiently equipped refuge. It is located on the top of a hill halfway between Barcena Mayor and Arenas de Iguña. The site is very quiet with fresh air and cows resting in the green meadows. A place outside of time and the world. It is part of an obligatory step in the demanding cycling test of the 10,000 Soplao.
