The Hermitage of the Virgen de los Santos is a place of worship and devotion on the hill that bears its name, near the town of Pozuelo de Calatrava. The hermitage of El Salvador del Mundo is from the 16th century, although it underwent a reconstruction from the year 1760 conserving the same Latin cross plan. Its interior consists of a single nave and transept open by a dome. The very venerable image of the Savior of the World, patron saint of the town, is preserved inside. Located outside the walls on the road to Granátula and Almagro, it was possibly built during the first decades of the 16th century, since the general visitors on their visit to the town in 1549 ordered that a door with a lock be built at the entrance of the the hermitage within four months, as well as a walled chapel. Burned down around the year 1657, it remained with the same structure, making minimal repairs to the roof and whitewashing with lime.
