It is a fabulous work of art by Gaudí on top of La Mola hill in the middle of the countryside. It is worth visiting and taking a breath on one of the benches around this temple contemplating the views of the valley. Right next to the sanctuary is a restaurant and an Almohad-style castle.

The climb to La Mola is a must if you are in the Novelda area. From the top you can appreciate beautiful views of the town, the Castle and the Magdalena Sanctuary. The climb is not very demanding but it is recommended to bring enough water and walking sticks.

The Sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena in Novelda is one of the jewels of modernism in the province of Alicante. Built taking as inspiration the work of Gaudí, by D. José Sala Sala, the work has become one of the most important modernist buildings in the Valencian Community.

The church building was designed by a former student of the Spanish architect Gaudí. The building is built in the Catalan modernist style. The church is located on a rocky plateau next to the ruins of the old castle 'La Mola' of Novelda. The church has a pot shape, which symbolizes a pitcher and is made up of brown stone walls with unevenly round natural stones from the area. Construction of the church began in 1918 and was carried out in three phases. Construction was completed in 1946.

An exotic example of Catalan modernism in the middle of the countryside. Construction in the STYLE of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona by Antonio Gaudí began in 1918 and was completed in 1946. There are two well-developed paths that lead directly to the building. If you prefer mountain biking, you can choose other, more feasible routes. Worth seeing! José Sala Sala, the architect of the pilgrimage church, was clearly inspired by the world-famous building by Antonio Gaudí. Construction in the STYLE of the Sagrada Familia began in 1918, but required three phases, so that the work was not completed until 1946.
