Ettore Infersa salt mines area to embark to visit the island of Mozia.

The Ettore and Infersa salt pans are part of the Stagnone Nature Reserve. Opposite are the islands of Mozia, Grande and Santa Maria.

Luckily during my tour in Sicily I managed to see them in pink

The Mozia saltworks offers: restaurant, café, saltworks museum with an old windmill and wonderful views over the saltworks, boat trip through the lagoon to the island of Mozia with large Phoenician archaeological sites.

From here you can take the ferry to the island of Mozia, a small piece of land facing the coastline between Trapani and Marsala. Mozia is a little-known archaeological site but worth the detour.

Wonderful landscape

It is one of the most evocative locations in Sicily, truly unique in the panorama and in the spectacle of colors it can offer: we are obviously talking about the historic pier for Mozia, and the adjacent salt pans of the Stagnone di Marsala! The Arini and Pugliese Tourist Consortium, active with the motor ship Tanit (but also Fenice and Acquabus), carries out the connection with Mozia and the tour of the Stagnone. On board the Tanit (85 seats), it is possible to admire the magic of a place that has few equals. Not only for the historical charm that the island of Mozia brings with it, but also for the thousand stories that the lagoon seems to tell, which originate from its ancient and iconic mill and bounce on the white salt dunes, to reach the amazed eye of who watches this show.

From this point it is possible to observe a beautiful landscape: the Marsala salt pans, the Stagnone reserve and the Erice mountain in the background.
