⛪ The chapel in Vreschen-Bokel is a true hidden gem and one of the oldest and most atmospheric buildings in the municipality of Apen (near Augustfehn/Barßel). The chapel boasts a history spanning over 550 years. It was first documented in 1456, making it one of the oldest places of worship in the Ammerland region.

If you really want to relax, you shouldn't miss a stroll around the leisure harbor!

Very nice tour. There's a small detour near Jübberde, though. You don't have to drive on the busy country road...

The small chapel was built on a mound in 1456 and, for a long time, was Apen's only place of worship besides St. Nicholas Church. After the Reformation, it fell into disrepair and was restored under Count Anton Günther. Its furnishings date largely from the Baroque period. The organ was installed in the 20th century. As is typical for the region, the bell tower stands free. The stone structure, dating from 1858, replaced a wooden predecessor from the early 18th century. (Source: https://www.apen-touristik.de/)
