Amer is located halfway between Olot and Girona and is a town with more than a thousand years of history, where you can still breathe its medieval past. Amer has been the birthplace of several presidents of the Generalitat; four were abbots of the monastery between the 15th and 17th centuries, and two were born in Amer. The Amer Valley has great forest wealth, and the forests of chestnut, hazel, oak and pine stand out. Bordering the eastern part of the town is the Brugent River, formerly called the Amera River, which merges with the Ter River. The Carrilet route is one of the access entrances to the town. Its old railway station is today a mandatory stop and in the past it was one of the most important, since the train workshops and warehouses were also located here.

Pretty well-preserved Romanesque hermitage with a nice porch at the entrance to shelter from the sun or the rain. From here, a trail leads to the Hermitage and viewpoint of St Roc. I'll leave that for another day! But I'm sure that the views from st Roc are more spectacular, from here the trees don't let you see much!

Also known as Sobreroca or Puig de Elena, it is a sanctuary of Romanesque origin, although it has been immersed in various renovations. Belonging to the municipality of San Aniol de Finestres (Garrotxa), it is located on the slope of Mount Elena. It is part of the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. It is of Romanesque origin, with some subsequent remodeling.

XV century church located at the top of Sant Roc. Although it is part of the municipality of Sant Aniol dde Finstres, at this point the counties of Garrotxa, Gironès and La Selva meet. It is listed as Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
