Signage on the Camino de Santiago is essential for pilgrims. Yellow arrows: These arrows will guide you throughout the entire route. They indicate the direction to follow, especially at crossroads. The yellow color is due to the contribution of the parish priest Elías Valiña, a key figure in the resurgence of the Camino de Santiago in the 20th century. Cairns or milestones: These concrete blocks include an arrow, a yellow shell on a blue background and the distance in kilometers to Santiago de Compostela. You will find them every 500 meters in Galicia. Scallop shells: In addition to being drawn on the markers, scallop shells are distributed throughout the Camino. They are universal symbols and have been carried by pilgrims for centuries. The open part of the shell indicates the direction towards Santiago. Good way! 🚶‍♂️🌟

Wonderful scenery along the way.

That's why this is the highlight. After a leisurely climb up here from 700m to 900m, it's now a steep climb up to 1,155m. So rest here again and stock up on supplies. Pilgrims used to be very afraid of this section up in the forest, which then goes on for hours. Of highwaymen and wild animals. You can only get through in groups. Even today there are no buildings up to the stage finish. If you're lucky, you'll find two mobile refreshment stations in the middle of the route in the forest.

In Belorado. I don't usually choose a hostel as a highlight, but I can recommend this one unconditionally. And so close to the center. The owner is called Joaquin. Like me.

Beautiful little town - as the name suggests. With great hostels and a large Plaza Mayor, where you can find many restaurants. The town is impressive because of the many paintings on the houses, but this is another highlight. Because these paintings cannot be found on the Plaza Mayor.

Great views

This is a beautiful square that is located in the old center of the town of Belorado and where you can enjoy a good rest. In the same square is the Iglesia de San Pedro.

Such a nice square to take a rest and take the creative setting in fully. There is plenty of shade to refuel.
