This fortress is a magnificent, well-preserved example of the fifteenth-century residential castles found in the province of Toledo. Currently inhabited, we can tour its exterior, appreciating the aesthetic result of the influences of Italian art in its architecture.

Its history is a mystery, but news arrives from the year 1116, during a battle between the Christians of Toledo and the Muslims of Oreja. Warden Farax Abdalí was defeated near the Christian castle of Polán, which was perhaps under construction at the time.

The origin of Cobisa dates from the year 1175 when Mozarabic documents appear that attest to the existence of a town near Toledo. Although prior to this documentation, these places were populated by Celtiberian towns that stretched between Madrid and Toledo. From the ruins of that town, Cobisa was born. Its most outstanding building is the Church of San Felipe and Santiago Apostol, built on an old hermitage from the 12th century.

The castle of Polán is a medieval fortification in the north of the urban area and its state is dilapidated. The best preserved part is a façade broken in its center, which leaves two strong towers on both sides, whose connecting wall has disappeared.
