Cadgwith is a small fishing village forgotten by the 21st century, situated on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Fishermen still push their boats up the beach to catch shellfish and wet fish when the weather permits.

As Coverack is on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula, the beach is generally very sheltered. Although there are 150 shipwrecks just off the coast due to a section of hidden rocks called the Manacles.

The Lizard NNR is one of the largest nature reserves in the South West. The reserve itself reaches across to Mullion Cove to near Coverack. Over 250 species of national and international importance are found here such as the dwarf rush and wild asparagus. This area of Heathland boasts a carpet of orchids and violets in the early summer and gorse and heather by late summer.

This is a delightful tiny cafe on an equally delightful beach. Serves a variety of meals and hot drinks. Very popular with the locals. Highly recommended.

The sea views are perfect. You will see Chuffs (birds) around the point. Not sure what the amusements are (mentioned above), but at the right time of year the cafe is great at the point itself and the cafes was you entre Lizard Village from the south are also friendly and good value. Well worth the ride.

Really cool mill from the 18th/19th century nestled on a stream in gorgeous wooded Poltesco Lane.

Great views across the nature reserve on either side of this long straight road. Take it easy and enjoy the ride towards the sea

A good place to sea swim with RNLI coastguards but quite a tough climb back out

Great views to sea but don't turn around and look at the abomination of the 'amusements'

With quaint thatched cottages clinging to the valley sides and colourful boats docked in its picturesque harbour, Cadgwith is a quintessential English fishing village. The reason cottages are thatched in Cadgwith is that the village is about as far from the slate-producing regions like Delabole as you can get in Cornwall.

The idyllic fishing village of Cadgwith looks like a deep sleep. A large part of the houses is still completely covered in thatch with reeds, the fishermen still drive in colorful wooden boats to the sea. Time seems to be standing still here.
