Casa de Campo is the largest park in Madrid and one of the largest in Europe, with more than 1,700 hectares of nature, recreation, and culture. It is considered the "green lung" of the city and offers a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Great park with lots of trails that lead criss-cross through the forest. Very clean and there are lots of opportunities to take breaks.

Stage 1. Madrid/Ávila 126 km. 2,300 m positive. La Casa de Campo is the starting point that I usually choose on round-trip cycle trips of two or three days from the city of Madrid. There is good parking, it is a pleasant place, it has metro stations and it passes the Cycling Ring that allows connect by bike with other neighborhoods of the capital. On the way to the city of Ávila we left the Casa de Campo along the Vereda de la Cañada de la Carrera, in the municipalities of Pozuelo de Alarcón and Boadilla del Monte, one of the historic royal roads used in the 16th century between Madrid and El Escorial, when it was the residence of Felipe II. The route is a livestock route and is recovered by the CiclaMadrid network, taking advantage of all the possible options through parks, gardens and public mountains between the urbanizations of the Madrid urban periphery, the golf courses and the express ring roads. In Monte de Majadahonda we enter one of the Canal service roads, in this case it is the collector of the Picadas reservoir, we walk through the pipes of the Plantío stream and finally the Guadarrama river through the Villafranca del Castillo urbanization. The first serious slopes arrive.
