4월 22, 2025, Tharsis Pier
The Tharsis Pier is an enormously symbolic element for the city of Huelva, due to its link with its recent history and exponent of its economic and social evolution. From the technical and scientific point of view, this pier is a good example of the design and technology of the European vanguard of the late nineteenth century in civil engineering, constituting a specialized and unique element within the port area on a national scale. What was it built for? The Tharsis Pier was built to provide an outlet for the important amount of mining material that during the 19th century and early 20th century arrived from the mines of the different points of the Andévalo or Cuenca Minera of Huelva. Numerous were the companies that exploited these mines, such as “The Tharsis Sulphur and Copper Company Limited”, which extracted the mineral from the area of Tharsis and La Zarza. To reach this goal, it was necessary to build a structure that would allow the material to be unloaded quickly and efficiently onto the ships in the Huelva estuary. For this purpose, the Rio Tinto Company Limited, carried out the construction of this pier-wharf a few years later. 11월 22, 2022, Castillo de los Zúñiga
Built in the 15th century by Don Pedro Zúñiga, it was conceived to defend and monitor the land in the area that was regularly lashed by pirates. In the 16th century it was reinforced by adding defense elements and towards the end of the 17th century it was a refuge for citizens from Portuguese attacks. Its history as a fortress came to an end in 1812 and at some point it was planned to be demolished. Luckily today it is in perfect condition and has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1985.

3월 9, 2022, Castillo de los Zúñiga
Well preserved castle on the west side of the historic town of Cartaya. Look for the storks that nest on the tower. La Zúñiga Castle sits upon a small hill of very compact reddish clay earth. Built under royal licenses granted in 1417 and 1420 by Mr. Pedro de Zuñiga to defend the boat crossing of the Piedras River, it was finished in 1428. A map from 1668 in the Historic Military Service in Madrid details its original structure. The castle stands on a circuit of walls, rectangular in shape, with seven square towers on the corners and on the front and side stretches of wall. A barbican no longer stands today. It measures 35 x 27 metres, the towers are approximately 3.5 m wide, except the central tower defending the gate, which measures 5 m, and the keep, in the northwest corner, which measures 6 m. The circuit has an average height of 8 m and a thickness of 1.70 m. Access to enter the castle is only during music festivals and cultural events. https://www.andalucia.org/en/cartaya-cultural-tourism-castillo-de-los-zuniga

3월 9, 2022, Castillo de los Zúñiga
The fortress castle of Los Zúñiga, also known as Cartaya castle or Los Lacerdos castle, is a defensive construction from the 15th century. The lands of the town began to form part of the lordships of the House of Zúñiga and the lords found themselves in an insecure area frequently attacked by Berber and Norman pirates. Between 1417 and 1420 the construction of the fortress began, an ideal refuge for the population and which ended up consolidating the current settlement. Until the Marquis of Gibraleón, Pedro de Zúñiga and Manrique de Lara, did not win a lawsuit against Alfonso de Guzmán, Lord of Ayamonte and Lepe, by which he was able to establish a passage by boat through the Piedras River and found the town together with him. to be able to defend said pass, there was no certain normality in the area. In it, its parade ground and the walls of more than eight meters high that were restored at the end of the 1990s stand out. It is complemented by the Mudejar access door to the enclosure. It also had seven battlemented towers and a second low outer wall, both of which have now disappeared. Its mission was to monitor the land that bordered the manors of Lepe and Gibraleón, especially Piedras. In the 18th century, it was planned to convert it into a barracks for a guard corps, but once the project was discarded, it was abandoned in 1812. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castillo_fortaleza_de_Los_Z%C3%BA%C3%B1iga
