September 2025: Alta Vista mountain hut still not open. It's undergoing extensive renovations and is apparently being upgraded. A helicopter flies up and down with construction materials. The hike from the road to Montana Blanca is easy. Then, a permit check and a long, steep climb to the top. Challenging but beautiful.

At the start of the gravel road, there's a sign prohibiting bicycles, but further down you'll see a bicycle path sign, which should be okay. However, there's a sign there indicating when the mouflon hunt is, so be sure to pay attention to that.

A hike to La Rambleta at night to see the sunrise is exceptional. Be careful, you have to be prepared, it's a tough climb.

Montaña Blanca is an impressive hiking destination in Teide National Park that offers spectacular views of the surrounding volcanic landscapes. The trail is easily accessible and suitable for hikers of all fitness levels as the climb to the summit is not particularly steep. It is best to start early, especially on hot days, as there is little shade along the way and the sun becomes very intense as the day progresses.

You should be sure-footed and have a good level of fitness. Otherwise, dress warmly (layered) and don't forget your gloves. It's brutally cold and windy up there. If you want to be there at sunrise, you'll obviously have to set off at night with a headlamp. You also have to get a permit beforehand.
