Goddess of the harvest and fertility, Ceres (from the Greek Demeter*) helps mortals cultivate the land, harness animals, plow the soil, sow, and any other aspect that encourages agriculture.

Built by order of Ferdinand VII during the first Bourbon restoration (between 1808 and 1837) alluding to the mythical Twelve Labours of Hercules. The commission was made to the architect Isidro González Velázquez and the sculptor Juan Adán. Its original location was planned for the rear area of the Casa del Labrador.
