One of the most extraordinary highlights on Santa Cruz beach is the colorful resin whale sculpture that suddenly appeared in December 2021. It was erected while the island was still dealing with the aftermath of the Tajogaite volcano eruption and quickly became a symbol of hope, resilience, and new beginnings on La Palma.

The “Los Indianos” carnival in Santa Cruz takes place every year on Shrove Monday and parodies the Canary Islands, who emigrated to Latin America and later returned as wealthy people including servants. Anyone who can plan their vacation during this time will experience a great festival. 🥳🍹🎉 But wear light-colored clothes, ideally in colonial style. Really worth seeing! 🤩 You should buy something small in the small shop in the basement. Everything is very inexpensive and the older woman at the cash register is very friendly.
