In the middle of the Pacific, the island of Tahiti is a legendary travel destination. The word "Tahiti" alone conjures up images of an idyllic island paradise. Remote, tropical and lush green - this is where dreams and reality meet. The name Tahiti (Polynesian name Otahiti) is probably the best known of all the islands in French Polynesia and evokes longings for paradise. Due to its volcanic origin, the island of Tahiti hardly has any white sandy beaches, but rather black lava beaches - which are no less attractive and have their own charm. Geographically, Tahiti is one of the Society Islands, or more precisely the Windward Islands, and is the largest island in this archipelago. The interior of the island is wild and green, crossed by mountains with countless waterfalls and the highest peaks in the archipelago. In the capital Papeete (Tahitian Pape’ete), on the other hand, modern life pulsates and you can find all the amenities of a big city.
