A truly extraordinary spot. A few information panels explain a great deal about the mill, as well as the resurgence of the Vis River. This place should be respected, of course (as everywhere). Be careful, there are a few tricky sections. Keep an eye on your children, pets, or elderly visitors.

This small sacred monument, too, is a symbol of remembrance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, its design is very unique and unlike the usual crosses that often crown mountain peaks. At the end of the triangular base plate, a small wall appears to have been built, its sides terminating in the shape of a stepped gable. In the center is a V-shaped cutout, the ends of which extend significantly beyond the height of the small wall. From this V emerges the longitudinal beam of the cross, which, however, has two crossbeams. This double crossbeam, as well as the lack of a corpus, is typical of the so-called "Lorraine Cross."

Many churches in France, including this chapel, are dedicated to the Virgin Mary under the widely used title "Notre-Dame" (in German: "Our Dear Lady"). A brief reflection on the Mother of God from Albino Luciani (Pope John Paul I): "Mary is truly our sister, as Saint Ambrose says. She lived a life very similar to ours. It is, of course, beautiful to venerate Mary as the Virgin and Mother of God, as the one conceived immaculately from original sin and assumed into heaven; but she is also the Madonna of plates, brooms, and cooking pots..." Visitors to this small but highly prominent Marian shrine can decide for themselves which "Notre-Dame" they wish to venerate here.
