The summit offers a great panoramic view. If you made it up here in the summer, you'll have been able to smell the sheep for some time. A noticeable number of hikers rest here standing up - if you want to enjoy the view for longer than just a breather, bring a seat pad with you. 😉

Located at 1,886 meters above sea level, the Puy de Sancy is the highest point of the Massif Central but also of Auvergne. Considered the king of the Monts Dore, this stratovolcano is 300,000 years old. At the top the panorama of the surroundings is magnificent, on a clear day it is even possible to see Mont Blanc!

This ancient volcano culminating at 1,762 meters above sea level is at the start of a magnificent ridge line that leads to the Puy de Sancy. It also offers a superb view of the Cirque de Dordogne and the Dent de la Rancune.
