The Protestant Church of St. Eustachius was built between 1887 and 1889 on the site of a 14th-century church that had been completely demolished for this purpose. The previous church had to be demolished due to its structural condition and its inadequate size, which no longer met the needs of the congregation.

Egeln is a town in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). It belongs to the Egelner Mulde collective municipality. The small Börde town of Egeln with around 3,500 inhabitants is located at the junction of federal highways 81 and 180, in the middle of the triangle of cities Aschersleben, Halberstadt and Magdeburg. It is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Magdeburg, halfway to Halberstadt in the Salzland district in the Egelner Mulde on the Bode. (Source: Wikipedia)

The moated castle is in the middle of Egeln. The best way to get there is to drive past the church, whose tower can be seen from afar.
